As the year starts to wind down, it’s a good time to look at where the AV industry is heading, and what it could mean for your hiring plans in 2027.
It’s been a good year for a lot of the UK AV industry. Midwich, one of the biggest AV distributors, reported half year revenue up 3.2% to £640.3 million. Its UK business achieved double-digit growth, and revenue from unified communications products grew by more than 30%. When distributors are busy, it’s usually a sign that integrators and installers have plenty of work coming through too.
A lot of that is coming from the workplace. Futuresource’s research into enterprise AV buyers found that 49% of organisations have increased their meeting room capacity, and more than two-thirds plan to expand their integrated meeting rooms over the next two years. AI is playing a part too, with 66% of organisations now saying AI features are an important factor when they choose AV solutions.
So why does this matter to you? More rooms means more people needed to install and look after them, and that means more competition for good candidates. At the moment we’re seeing steady demand for experienced on-site AV and VC technicians at corporate sites, and for project managers who can deliver big integration projects on time. If you’re likely to need either next year, it pays to start looking early.
